Scope and Contents
This collection contains the official minutes of the Board of Trustees meetings for the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute. The minutes are typed in narrative form and summarize the reports presented at the meetings by the Director, the President of the Board of Trustees, and various committees.
The minutes also record votes taken at the meetings on issues such as loans, budgets, and acquisitions. Typically several meetings are held each year, including the annual meeting and supplementary special meetings.
The first volume of records includes founding documents of the museum ,such as the articles of organization, an agreement of association, and early tax materials.

Conditions Governing Access
Board of Trustees Records are closed for fifty years after the date of creation. Researchers with no Art Institute affiliation who wish to access records older than 50 years from the date of creation may be considered upon written request to the Archivist.
