Scope and Contents note

From the Sub-Series:

Some 80 paintings, pastels, and drawings by Jean Francois Millet, including one of his most famous paintings, The Gleaners, cast new light on the beloved nineteenth-century French master. Comprising works from more than two dozen public and private collections in the United States, Europe, and Japan, this exhibition brought together the greatest number of Millet's works to be shown in the U.S. since 1984.
