Scope and Contents note

From the Sub-Series:

This exhibition traced the evolution of Little Dancer Aged Fourteen by Edgar Degas, starting from earlier images in paintings and pastels and continuing to the sculpture itself and on to later works. The exhibition also repositioned the work within the context of 19th-century cultural and aesthetic concerns, largely through new research int its first public reception.
