Gustav Klimt: Landscapes, June 16, - September 2, 2002
Scope and Contents note
This was the first American exhibition devoted to Gustav Klimt's landscapes. It featured lush, colorful landscapes by the great Viennese artist, whose favorite subjects included the orchards, woods, gardens, and villas around the Attersee in western Austria. It should be noted that this exhibition was part of a larger event called The Vienna Project, which was a six-month series of exhibitions, programs, and special events at cultural institutions throughout the Berkshires, including MASS MoCA and Tanglewood. The Bernardo Bellotto: Views of imperial Vienna and Otto Wagner: The Academy of Fine Arts exhibitions at the Clark were part of this project and linked to the Klimt exhibition. Many of the materials in this subseries also relate to these two exhibitions.
